The Print page in Simfuni provides a user-friendly way to view and manage documents that require printing and posting. Documents can either be printed individually, or selected in bulk to print multiple different documents at the same time.

Overview
First Time Printer Set-Up
QZ Tray is the software that connects the Simfuni platform to a physical printer, and allows documents to be sent between the two. There are a few initial steps to get this up and running:
- Simfuni will configure the printing details for your account in the backend of the Simfuni platform. We'll generate and save a digital certificate to tell your computer that printing is safe, so that you don't get a popup asking if QZ Tray can be trusted every time you print.
- You'll need to install QZ Tray on the computer you intend to print documents from.
- Simfuni will send through a file called a digital certificate, with details that match what was saved in the backend of the Simfuni platform. When you upload the digital certificate file into QZ Tray on the computer you intend to print documents from, it will allow the certificate to match with the certificate in Simfuni and securely connect with each other. To add the digital certificate:
- Install QZ Tray (instructions can be found on QZ Tray's Website)
- Save the file Simfuni sent you with the digital certificate details on your computer (just downloading it to the Downloads folder should be enough)
- In the bottom right corner of the screen open the system tray (by clicking the up arrow)
- Right click the QZ Tray icon
- Click on Advanced
- Click on Site Manager
- Click on the plus icon
- Select Browse
- Navigate to where you saved the the digital certificate Simfuni sent through and double click the digital-certificate file
- This will load the digital certificate into QZ Tray and display it in the Site Manager. You can close the Site Manager now.
You only need to do these steps once to set printing up, after this configuration is saved you can simply select documents and then click Print.
If you click on the Print button in Simfuni without QZ Tray installed, or without it open and running in the background, Simfuni will try to find a printer but it won't be successful. It will attempt to fetch a list of available printers for a few minutes before displaying an error message:
"Unable to fetch list of available printers: Unable to establish connection with QZ".
Printing Documents
- Start up QZ Tray on your computer and make sure it's up and running (i.e. you can see the QZ Tray icon in the system tray).
- In Simfuni, open the Print page from the main menu on the left. Note, If you do not see this option, please contact your account administrator to request access.
- On the print page, change the status filter to Ready for Print. This will show only the documents that require printing.
- Review the list and select all documents that require printing using the checkbox to the left of each row.
- Press the print button on the top left of the table.
- Select your preferred printer from the list, then click continue to start printing.
- Wait until all documents have been printed before leaving the page.
How documents are added to the print list:
If a client has their preferred method of contact set as Post, any system-generated PDF documents that would normally be sent as an attachments to an email will instead be added to the print queue. This ensures that clients can still receive important communications even if they do not have any email address.

Print statuses
Documents in the print list can have one of two statuses:
- Ready to print: The document has been generated but hasn't been sent to QZ Tray yet
- Printed: The document has been successfully sent to QZ Tray
The date shown on the print list is the date the document was generated, not the date it was printed. This is to make it easier to spot if multiple documents have been generated in between printing sessions for one client (e.g. if multiple payments have been missed), as they will all be in the printing list. You may wish to print them all and post them out, or just print the latest document and leave the rest.
Troubleshooting - The document didn't print
If the document didn't print despite appearing to have processed in Simfuni, follow these steps to troubleshoot:
- Verify Printer Selection
Ensure the correct printer was selected from the dropdown list in Simfuni. - Check the Windows Print Queue
Open the Windows Print Queue and see if there are any pending print jobs that might be causing a delay or blockage. - QZ Tray
Check QZ Tray is running, and the icon is displayed in the system tray.
